Part 2: Possible Capstone Ideas
I have so many half-done projects from the past that I could focus on for my capstone that also have some real-world value. A long time ago I wrote an public key encryption plugin for facebook messenger on the web. While that fell apart for a number of reasons, there might be an opportunity to revive it on another platform as privacy and IP concerns become bigger issues for people. I also have some AI model development I've been putting off for a long time to see if I can train an AI to decode and produce some HAM radio digital protocols. Even though the existing algorithm is pretty efficient, it's more about finding a good way to process and train on coded broadband signals such that they could be reproduced without a priori knowledge of the algorithm. A third idea is a parking lot monitoring program. Using a low power computing platform, capture data about parking lot usage and make a realtime digital twin in the cloud of what spaces are available and which are taken, and how long they've been taken for.
Part 3: Keep Up With Your Learning Journal
I'm not thinking about internships myself, but I am thinking about how I can get my company's university recruiting program hooked into the CSUMB internship program. I'd love to see some classmates at work! I am thinking about graduate school for myself and the list provided sparked some new thoughts about what I might pursue. I deal a lot with cybersecurity in my role and it might be good to develop a stronger background. This week I dove in deeper to my ethics essay on autonomous driving. I learned that this is a long standing debate already. I've had experience working with trolley problems, but not with the underlying ethical frameworks. I might consider an elective at my community college to explore these ideas further.
